A group of around 1,200 tech workers has pledged their support for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign, highlighting a broad base of industry backing for Democrats in Silicon Valley, beyond just its most vocal investors. The group, known asTech4Kamala, is set to reveal the signatories of a letter endorsing Harris on Thursday night, as reported by Bloomberg. The letter praises Harris as an “archetypical innovator” and a “champion of technology” who has worked to expand access to STEM education, promote entrepreneurship, and close the digital equity gap.
While the signatories are supporting Harris in a personal capacity and not as representatives of their companies, they come from major tech firms such as Apple, Meta, and Salesforce. The list also includes freelancers, founders, venture capitalists, and professionals from tech-related fields like law and real estate.
Shannon Nash, one of the letter’s organizers and the CFO of a drone company, emphasized the potential to rally the tech community, which includes over 7 million workers. “Our industry is not just about a handful of billionaires but about the collective power of tech professionals,” Nash said. Other organizers include communications executive Edda Collins Coleman, entrepreneur Julia Collins, and human relations executive Felicia Mayo.
This show of support comes as over 700 venture capitalists and investors have also released a letter backing Harris, while another group of VCs has endorsed former President Donald Trump. Although Silicon Valley has traditionally leaned left, a vocal conservative faction, including Elon Musk, investor David Sacks, and Sequoia Partner Shaun Maguire, has thrown its support behind Trump this election cycle.
Tech4Kamala and VCs for Kamala are planning to co-host a mixer for Harris in Chicago on August 21, according to the organizers.
