Seeing her husband struggle, Indra’s wife, Sachi, sought help from Lord Vishnu. Vishnu gave her a sacred cotton thread, which she tied around Indra’s wrist. With this divine blessing, Indra gained the strength to defeat Bali and reclaim Amaravati. Originally, these sacred threads were believed to bring good fortune and were tied by women to protect their husbands going off to battle, unlike today’s tradition that focuses more on brother-sister relationships.
King Bali and Goddess Lakshmi: In the Bhagavata Purana and Vishnu Purana, there’s a story about how, after Lord Vishnu defeated King Bali and took control of the three worlds, Bali requested Vishnu to stay with him in his palace.
