Types of Commission Offered through AFCAT
The different types of commissions offered to candidates through AFCAT exam are given below:
- PC for Men:Candidates joining as PC officers continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank
- SSC for Men and Women:The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is fourteen years from the date of commissioning
The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty for both technical and non-technical branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted, but it is subjected to the suitability, willingness, service requirement and vacancies available.
Details of AFCAT Training
Candidates are recommended for training on the basis of merit and availability of vacancies in various branches/ sub-branches. The duration of training for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) Branches is 74 weeks and that of Ground Duty (Non-technical) Branches is 52 weeks at various Air Force Training Organizations.

AFCAT Exam Pattern 2024
The online test of AFCAT is divided into four sections: General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. The duration of the test is two hours. The question paper of AFCAT comprises a total of 100 questions. The maximum marks allotted to the test are 300.
The EKT exam, conducted for Ground Duty (Technical) branch is held for 45 minutes. Questions are asked from Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics.
