Employee gets terminated : A former employee has made serious allegations against his former employer after he was dismissed in dubious circumstances. More than eight months have passed since he joined the company, but by then, he was finding the workload too heavy, something which he said he tolerated because of the increase his salary carried with it. Tensions finally boiled over into serious trouble for him when he was found to have been afflicted with fatty liver and later with chickenpox.
Employee gets terminated
As he was getting weaker, the employee sought three days off for restoration but was reportedly denied the facility by his CEO, who requested him to work from home. Despite all his efforts to give partial support to his team, his condition continued deteriorating. He came to understand that he needed proper rest, and on this understanding, he submitted his resignation on medical grounds, seeking an early release after a month. As he himself reported, the CEO and company management did not accept his resignation letter, but instead asked him to continue working for them.
It so happened a few weeks later that Project Manager got an accident in which his hands got injured. Apart from his injuries related to back strain, the new one is handed to them as another reason why he should be released early, but apparently the company turned a blind eye to his appeals, caring less for his physical condition. After two days of rest at the hospital, the company reportedly terminated him through email and accused him of improper conduct and threatened them to report his departure as improper in BGV – future prospects at the workplace are bound to get damaged. But that is not all; rather, it is alleged that the company even requested him to pay a sum equivalent to three months’ salary to acquire his experience certificate, leaving him in a financially and emotionally trying condition.
Seeking advice on what to do, the Project Manager posted his case on Reddit. A few users commented on what he should do. One user advised, “Consult a good lawyer. Prime Legal are good lawyers if you’re from Bengaluru and they helped me with some legal issues.” Another comment came as: “Walk in with chickenpox to the CEO’s cabin and get escorted out with whatever your demand is.”
Practical advice was also given by other people. One commentator explained, “Once you send your resignation letter, that’s the end of it. The company can’t reject it. They can decline your retraction when you have a change of mind, but once you resign, they can’t deprive you of your right to leave.” Now, the Project Manager is between the medical challenges, allegations of unfair treatment, and the demand for his experience letter with a financial motive in terms of guidance on how to maneuver the complicated circumstances.
