JNV Admission 2025: Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) has begun accepting applications for admission to Class 6. Prospective students can submit their applications on the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti’s official website. The deadline for application submission is September 16, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates must complete their registration by this date. The application form for Class 6 admission can be found on the official JNV website: navodaya.gov.in.

To be eligible students must have a completed Class 5 before the 2024-25 academic session. Details regarding the admit card release, examination date and result announcement will be provided at a later time.

  • Step 2: In the important news section, click on the class 6 application link.
  • Step 3: Click on the registration link and enter all required details
  • Step 4: Login to fill out the online application form
  • Step 5: Submit the application fee and save.

The government set up Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in accordance with the National Policy of Education (1986). Currently the JNVs are spread in 27 states and 8 union territories. JNVs are co-educational residential schools fully financed and administered by the government through an autonomous organisation, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. Admissions in JNVs are made through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) to Class 6.

Selection Process

Admission to JNVs is based on merit, as determined through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). The JNVST is a competitive entrance examination that assesses students’ aptitude and knowledge.

JNV Admission Eligibility Details

To be eligible for the JNVST 2025, candidates must meet specific criteria:

  • Residency: The candidate must be a bona fide resident of the district where the JNV is located and must be studying in Class V in the same district during the 2024-25 academic year.
  • Age Limit: The candidate must be born between May 1, 2013, and July 31, 2015 (both dates inclusive).
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate should have completed Classes III, IV and V from a recognized school, spending one full academic session in each class.
  • Aadhaar Requirement: As per the Aadhaar Act, candidates must furnish their Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication for admission.

Admission to JNVs through JNVST 2025 is a multi-step process:

  • Application Submission: Candidates must submit their application online by September 16, 2024.
  • Admit Card Release: Admit cards will be available for download from the official website before the exam.
  • JNVST Examination: The exam will be conducted in two phases on January 18, 2025 and April 12, 2025, depending on the location.
  • Result Declaration: Results are expected to be announced in March 2025 for summer-bound JNVs and in May 2025 for winter-bound JNVs.
  • Document Verification: Provisionally selected candidates will undergo document verification before final admission.

JNVST Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The JNVST exam consists of three sections with objective-type questions:

  • Mental Ability Test: 40 questions, 50 marks, 60 minutes
  • Arithmetic Test: 20 questions, 25 marks, 30 minutes
  • Language Test: 20 questions, 25 marks, 30 minutes

The total duration of the exam is 2 hours, with 80 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. Candidates with disabilities are given an additional 40 minutes

Required Documents for JNV Application Form

Candidates need to have the following documents ready in soft copy (JPG format, 10-100 kb) for the application process:

  • Verified certificate by the Head Master with candidate details
  • Recent photograph of the candidate
  • Signatures of the candidate and parent
  • Aadhaar card or residence certificate issued by a competent authority

Important Dates

  • Application Deadline: 16th September 2024
  • Phase 1 Exam Date: 18th January 2025
  • Phase 2 Exam Date: 12th April 2025
  • Result Declaration: March-May 2025 (depending on the exam phase)

Three-language formula

To facilitate migration every JNV student learns three languages in class VI to Class IX. These languages are grouped intoALevel,B-ILevel andB-IILevel. The pattern followed in different categories of states is as shown in the table below. However,CBSEmandates for children to study two languages only. The students of each category of states appear forALevel andB-Ilevel languages at CBSE examinations.

Additional Instructions

  • Admit Card: Candidates must download their admit cards from the official website. No candidate will be allowed to appear in the test without it.
  • Correct Information: all information provided in the application form matches the supporting documents. Any discrepancy can lead to the cancellation of the application.
  • Aadhaar Authentication: It is mandatory to provide an Aadhaar number during the application process. If Aadhaar is not available, candidates must submit a residence certificate and apply for Aadhaar.
