NEET MDS 2024: Qualifying Cut-off Percentile Reduced, NBE to Issue Revised Results

NEET MDS 2024: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has announced a reduction in the qualifying cut-off percentile for NEET MDS 2024. According to the latest notice the cut-off percentile has been lowered by 21.692 percentile across all categories, including General, SC, ST, OBC and UR-PWD.

In a letter signed by Under Secretary Amit Kumar was stated. This Ministry has decided to lower the qualifying cut-off percentile for NEET-MDS 2024 by 21.692 percentile for each category into the accordance with the DCI MDS Regulations 2017 and the second proviso in clause 7(1) of the DCI Master of Dental Surgery course (1st Amendment) Regulations, 2018. This adjustment aims to ensure a more inclusive selection process for aspiring dental candidates.

Likewise, the revised cut-off for the UR-PWD category is 23.308.

  • General (UR/EWS): 28.308
  • SC/ST/OBC (including PWD of these categories): 18.308
  • UR-PWD: 23.308

Through the official notice the ministry directed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences to release the revised results and requested the Medical Counselling Committee to take necessary action based on the new cut-offs on a priority basis. This move by the government aims to ensure more students have access to specialized dental education.

It may be mentioned here that the NEET MDS 2024 examination was conducted on March 18, 2024 the results of which was declared on April 3 and 2024. Based on NEET MDS cut off candidates will be shortlisted for admission to the MDS courses in top dental colleges of India. NEET MDS 2024 Counselling will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) based on the 50% AIQ merit list. The counselling will begin after the revised result releases. Last year also NEET MDS cut off percentile was lowered to 18.193, 8.193 and 13.193 for GN/ EWS, SC/ ST/ OBC and GN-PwD categories respectively.

NEET MDS 2024: Registration

  • To participate in the NEET MDS 2024 counselling a candidate had to register himself/ herself on the portal of MCC
  • He/ she had to visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in and select “MDS Medical Counselling”
  • Now select “New Registration” and proceed with the registration process
  • To register a candidate needs to enter the following information NEET MDS roll number the application number date of birth.
  • Upon completion of the registration process the candidate will receive the login credentials for his/ her registered account

NEET MDS 2024: Completing the form and filling in the requisite details

  • Candidates now have to fill in the details such as father name address and category in the registration form and the complete it
  • One must note that the details filled in during this stage of registration cannot be changed later and thus a candidate must fill in this information carefully

NEET MDS 2024: Registration fee

  • After completing the registration form a candidate needs to pay a non-refundable registration fee
  • Without paying the registration fee they will not be able to submit the registration form
  • The registration fee for NEET MDS counselling 2024 has to be paid online (Credit card/ Debit card/ Net banking)
  • After the payment is processed successfully a registration slip will be displayed
  • The candidate must print this registration slip and keep it safe for future use

NEET MDS 2024: Choice filling and locking of preferences

The choice filling and locking processes are described below.

  • Candidates have to log in into their registered account on the MCC portal
  • They then have to choose from among the choices provided on the left side of the screen
  • To add to the list of select the “+” button provided after every option
  • The option selected by the candidate will move from the left side of the screen to the right side of the screen
  • The candidate can also change the order of preference by moving the options up or down in the list
  • Once they are satisfied with the selection they must click on “Save and continue” followed by “Save and go home page” to exit
  • Take a printout of the choices filled and keep it safe for future reference
  • This process can be repeated after every round and the choices can be edited for the subsequent round
Documents Required for NEET MDS counselling 2024

A candidate who is allotted a seat through the NEET MDS 2024 counselling will have to report to the allocated institute for the verification of documents. For confirmation of the seat allocated he/she needs to carry the following documents

  • NEET MDS result 2024
  • NEET MDS Admit Card 2024
  • BDS degree certificate
  • BDS mark sheets
  • Internship Completion Certificate (stating that the candidate has completed his/ her internship on or before June 30, 2024)
  • Registration Certificate from the Dental Council of India (DCI) or State Dental Council (SDC)
  • Birth Certificate or class 10 marksheet
  • Photo ID proof (PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar card/ Passport)

NEET MDS Exam Pattern 2025 in Detail

In this section we bring the detailed NEET MDS 2025 exam pattern.

  • Mode of the Examination:According to the exam pattern of NEET MDS the examination will be conducted online or in a computer-based mode. The candidate needs basic knowledge of computers to appear for the test.
  • Medium of the Examination:English is the only language option for candidates wishing to appear for NEET MDS.
  • Duration of the Examination:NEET MDS will be held from 9 am to 12 noon giving candidates three hours to attempt the examination.
  • Number and type of questions:The total number of questions in the NEET MDS examination will be 240. All these questions will be objective type that is for every question a candidate will have four response options. He/she must only choose the correct answer from these four options.
