NEET UG Counselling 2024: Shortlisted medical aspirants who would then acquire a seat will have to report to the allotted institute from September 20 to September 27.The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the round two schedule, extending the registration by two days, September 16. Now, the seat allotment will be released on September 19. The development will also impact the schedule for the other rounds ofNEET UGcounselling 2024.

The PwD portal is activated and will be available upto 12 noon of September 16, 2024. Candidates can visit the designated disability centres to obtain disability certificates within stipulated time. The facility of resignation without forfeiture is provided and will be available upto 11:00 am of September 16, 2024. The list of newly added seats can be checked on the official website of the MCC.

The choice-filling for the second round of NEET UG 2024 counselling has also been extended till September 16. The seat allotment will be processed between September 17 and 18 and the NEET UG round 2 seat allotment result will be announced on September 19. The counselling process involves the allotment of approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats in around 710 medical colleges across the country. Additionally, counselling is being held for 1,000 BDS seats, as well as Ayush and nursing seats.

MCC NEET Counselling 2024 Steps

There are a minimum of seven steps followed at the MCC NEET counselling. Each step is described in detail below.

Step 1:Release of Seat Matrix

MCC releases the seat matrix forMBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing courses across the participating universities offering 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats.

Step 2: Registration

Candidates have to register for the NEET 2024 counselling for each round, including the Stray Vacancy round. The registration process is completely online and candidates have to provide data such as contact details,NEET 2024Roll Number, Rank and Scores along with other mandatory details. Non-refundable registration fees and refundable security deposit also have to be paid.

Step 3: Choice Filling

In this segment, candidates have to select colleges to which they wish to take admission. Registered candidates have to log in to the MCC website with their credentials and then fill in choices. MCC states, “It is advised that after going through the list of seats available, a tentative list may be prepared first as per your preference of colleges, before attempting to fill choices online.

Step 4: Choice Locking

The next step is to lock the choices entered by them. During the choice locking period, it is necessary to lock the choices to get a print of your submitted choices. Cautioning candidates, MCC states, “Don’t wait till the last minute to Register and Lock your choices and to take a printout. Please go through your submitted choices before locking, as once you lock the choices they cannot be modified or changed even if you have made a mistake. It may result in the allotment of a seat which you never wanted. Please note that the choices once locked cannot be unlocked even from MCC.

Step 5: Seat Allotment Result

MCC will release the seat allotment result for candidates who will register and submit choices following the due process. First, a provisional result will be released and candidates will be allowed to submit objections if any and then, the final result or seat allotment list will be released. Based on their seat allotment, candidates can either accept or go for the institute reporting round. Or they can opt for an upgrade of seats. In the case of the latter, they have to register for further rounds of counselling.

Step 6: Institute Reporting

In this step, candidates have to visit the institutes where they wish to take their medical admission. This step involves verification of the hard copy of mandatory documents and payment of admission fees.

Step 7: Verification by Universities and Processing of Seat Allotment

The universities and colleges will verify the registration details of joined candidates based on data shared by MCC.

MCC NEET 2024 Counselling Eligibility

The eligibility criteria laid out by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for participating in the NEET 2024 counselling process are given below:

  • Before registering for the counselling, applicants are advised to be sure of the MCC NEET Counselling eligibility criteria. Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions to participate in the NEET 2024 counselling process:
  • Aspirants should have qualified for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET)
  • Candidates must be registered on the MCC official website.
  • All applicants, including those from J&K UT, are eligible to participate in the AIQ and deemed university counselling.
  • Candidates registering on or after Round 2 should ensure that they have not been allotted seats in the previous round, or have opted for seat resignation or upgradation to be eligible for registration.

How to Register for MCC NEET UG 2024 Counselling

Now we bring the most important aspect of NEET UG counselling, which is the registration process. Follow the steps given below to register.

  • Visit the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in
  • Click on the ‘New Registration’ tab under the Candidate Activity section
  • Read the instructions and click on ‘I Agree’ check box
  • Enter the mandatory details such as NEET UG roll number, NEET UG application number, mother name, date of birth and security pin
  • Click on ‘Submit’
  • The credentials will be generated and sent to the registered email address
  • Complete the registration form by entering personal, educational, NEET 2024 result and other details and uploading of scanned photograph and signature
  • Pay the registration fee and take a printout of the registration confirmation page

Following the registration procedure, NEET-UG seat distribution will take place based on NEET results, choices made, seat availability, reservation criteria and other factors. Over one lakh seats will be filled through NEET counselling under the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) for all deemed/central institutions, ESIC/AFMC institutes, AIIMS and JIPMER colleges.
