The PM has already spoken with the medal winners on the phone after their achievements in Paris. He also supported to his athletes who just fell short of the podium. Modi had tweeted out of his support for wrestler Vinesh Phogat who was disqualified from final bout in women’s 50kg category after failed to lift the weight.

She went on to win another medal in the 10m air pistol with a mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh, making her as the first athlete from independent India to win the two medals in one edition of the Olympics.
In hockey, India gave PR Sreejesh the perfect farewell as they defeated in Spain 2-1 to claim the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics. This was the first time that India won back to back medals for the first time since 1972. Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace after the India were behind in the contest to claim the win as they got their record extending to 13th hockey medal in the Olympics.
In table tennis, Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula have made the notable progress. Batra became the first Indian table tennis player to reach the pre quarter finals of the Olympic Games, after Akula joined with her in the 16th round.
Despite from these achievements, India’s campaign has also been marked by heartbreak and near misses. different from the indian athletes have finished just at outside the podium, leaving fans with a sense of “what ifs” and unfulfilled hopes.
Final decision on Phogat on Aug 13
The ad of hoc division of the CAS has been extended in the time for the Sole Arbitrator Hon. Dr Annabelle Bennett in the Vinesh Phogat vs United World Wrestling and the International Olympic Committee matter to give a decision till 5:00 p.m. on 13th August 2024.
