He holds the distinction of being the only Indian actor with six films each achieving a worldwide gross opening of over ₹100 crore and the only South Indian actor with six films surpassing the ₹100 crore nett mark in the Hindi market. Additionally, Prabhas is the first South Indian actor to be honored with a wax sculpture at Madame Tussauds.
Prabhas was born on October 23, 1979 in Madras (now Chennai) to a Telugu family. His father Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju was a film producer and his mother, Siva Kumari was a homemaker.
He is the youngest of three siblings with an elder brother named Prabodh and an elder sister named Pragathi. Additionally he is the nephew of well-known Telugu film actor Krishnam Raju. His family originates from Mogalthur a village near Bhimavaram in the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

Prabhas completed his schooling at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai and DNR High School in Bhimavaram. He pursued his intermediate education at Nalanda College in Hyderabad.
Following this he obtained a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree from Sri Chaitanya College, also in Hyderabad. To further his aspirations in film, Prabhas attended the Satyanand Film Institute in Visakhapatnam, where he honed his skills and prepared for his career in the film industry.
