Shilpa Shinde Alleges Sexual Assault By Bollywood Producer
TV actress Shilpa Shinde who recently appeared on the latest season of Khatron Ke Khiladi has alleged that a filmmaker sexually assaulted her under the pretext of an audition. Her claim adds to a growing list of disturbing stories from actresses across the southern film industries.
Since the release of the Justice Hema Committee Report many women have publicly shared their own experiences of sexual assault revealing a troubling pattern of abuse within the industry. This surge in testimonies underscores a critical need for greater accountability and reform.
In an exclusive interview with News 18’s Showsha, Shilpa Shinde has accused a Hindi filmmaker of sexually harassing her during the early years of her acting career. She revealed that during an audition she was instructed to seduce the filmmaker who was presenting it as part of the audition process.
This disclosure adds to the growing list of serious allegations within the industry highlighting the need for increased awareness and accountability regarding such misconduct.
Shilpa Shinde recounted an incident from her struggling days around 1998-99 revealing that a Hindi filmmaker harassed her under the pretense of an audition. I refused to wear those clothes but in the scene I was instructed to seduce the filmmaker who was pretending to be my boss.
At the time, I was very innocent so I went along with it. The situation escalated when he tried to force himself on me. Terrified I pushed him away and fled. The security staff fearing I might cause a scene, asked me to leave immediately,” Shinde explained.
Shilpa Shinde has decided not to disclose the name of the director involved explaining that she agreed to perform the scene because he was also an actor. “He was part of the Hindi film industry. I consented to the scene because he was an actor himself.
I’m being truthful but I cannot reveal his name. His children are likely younger than me, and naming him would cause them undue suffering,” she said. Shinde’s choice reflects her concern for the impact that revealing the director’s identity might have on his family.
A few years later I met him again and he was very polite. He didn’t remember me from before and even offered me a film role which I declined. He still doesn’t recall our previous encounter ” she said.
Shilpa Shinde gained widespread recognition for her role as Angoori Bhabhi on the popular show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. Reflecting on her experience and the broader issue of harassment she expressed strong support for actresses speaking out.
When women discuss sexual harassment I firmly believe their accounts. It’s true that you might be approached but you also have the power to say no and choose not to be involved. This issue affects many people,” she asserted.
Shilpa’s career took a significant turn after her departure from Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai in 2016 leading to a public fallout with the show’s producers. She later won the 11th season of Bigg Boss and recently participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14.
After a few years, I ran into him again and he was very kind. He didn’t recognize me and even offered me a film role which I turned down. He still doesn’t remember me the actress shared.

I agreed to perform the scene because he was also an actor. I’m not lying but I can’t disclose his name.
